Here are a pair of extremely rare Swiss made loudspeakers by Shiva (now Stoll Audio of Basel Switzerland).
They are of an Isobaric design with facing bass drivers with a directional mid and treble speaker array. Beautifully made with white piano gloss finish and black pedestal.
They were produced from 1986 and finished at the beginning of the 1990's. Owned by me since 2011.
The following is from Dominic Stoll at Stoll Audio who wrote to me about these loudspeakers;
"They are a near-field studio or home monitor, developed to be used at close distances of about 1m.
Of course, it can be used in a more conventional setup in home hifi, at larger distances.
Since it has a extremely wide coverage, almost omni-directional, you get excellent flat energy response, but a lack of direct field, then; of course dependent on room acoustics and positioning therein.
But avoid close positioning to the walls, since the strong early reflections then mask a lot and the spatial imaging is heavily impaired, then.
This is basically true for every speaker, but the unusually wide dispersion of the Q-2a contributes to quite strong early reflections in MHF, if positioned close to walls and far from the listener.
On the other side, the wide distribution helps to the reflections having a flatter magnitude response".
The speakers are 840 mm high. 200 mm square and weigh approx 16 kgs each.
Very good to excellent condition with only a couple of tiny marks not obviously seen.
I am open to sensible offers around the indicated price.
