File comment: I found this chart of "x out of 10" descriptions to be a good reference

If you are a collector of audio equipment and you have been enjoying this hobby long enough, you might have a story or two of those occasions when you bought some audio equipment by means of a long distance transaction and while you highly anticipated the moment to contemplate your purchased item, as you open the package you get shocked and disappointed of the condition of the item and you realize that there is a significant difference between the actual esthetic condition of the item and the description of the condition provided to you by the seller.

Since I moved to France in 2013, this actually happened to me a couple of times and I am going to account the two stories in subsequent posts. It is the most recent experience that ignited for me the initiative to start this post. It happened with the purchase of two mono-block amplifiers for which I paid over 3k Euros with shipment included from Germany to France.

Before I post details about my experiences though, in the spirit of fairness, I would like to check with fellow audio community members and maybe even the administrators of this board to establish if whether or not the community would accept or appreciate the fact that an iffy seller is divulged to the world.

I am looking forward to receive some views on this topic and also to hear if others have any similar stories to share...

If you have an experience on UKAudioMart itself you can leave Negative Feedback with the user and point it out in the forum. If this is offsite then you should be careful not to include personal information about the user.

We do recommend all sellers on UKAM to study the Grade guide carefully:

Thank you for your reply! Yes, it was off-site and this is why I originally hesitated to post info upfront.
I will leave it to this. My best advice to all users is to clarify as many details as possible upfront and always ask for detailed high resolution pictures. If a seller sends poor quality pictures even after good quality pictures are requested, take this as a big red flag!! Good luck to all.

The UKAM grading scale is a perfect guideline for descriptions.
